Die Hofstra University wurde 1935 auf dem Gelände von William Hofstra und seiner Witwe Kate Williams Hofstra, einem reichen Holzhändler, gegründet. Zunächst startete sie als College der New York University und wurde einige Jahre später unabhängig. Ihren heutigen Namen erhielt sie 1963. |
