Further information	C. G. Breitkopf war als Drucker und Komponist in des Vaters Geschäft tätig, das er 1794 nach dessen Tod übernahm. 1795 schloß er mit Gottfried Christoph Härtel einen Assoziationskontrakt, dem bereits 1796 der Verkauf des gesamten väterlichen Erbes an den Partner folgte. Die Firma hieß nun Breitkopf & Härtel Buchdrucker; Sohn von Johann Gottlob Immanuel Breitkopf (1719-1794)
