Professor William (Bill) Brumfitt died from the effects of cerebrovascular disease on 8 February 2020. Bill was President of the British Society for Antimicrobial Chemotherapy (BSAC) from 1971 to 1975 and also of the Ninth International Congress of Chemotherapy held at Imperial College in London in 1975. He was a member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Antimicrobial Chemotherapy (JAC) from its beginning, serving until 1993. In 1989, he was awarded the Garrod Medal, the supreme award of the BSAC |
