Das Gedicht ist wohl identisch mit dem erhaltenen und durch Gaius Suetonius Tranquillus, Marcus Annaeus Lucanus, Marcus Valerius Martialis u. Caecilius Statius als vergilisch bezeugten Culex. Allerdings ist unklar, ob Vergil je einen Culex geschrieben hat. Auf Grund seiner Zugehörigkeit zur Appendix Vergiliana wird er traditionell zu den Werken Vergils gerechnet |
